Elizabeth’s Legacy of Hope (ELoH) is delighted to announce our new partnership with Matumaini School and Comprehensive Community Based Rehabilitation in Tanzania (CCBRT), from December 2011. Working with these organisations, we will sponsor 17 Tanzanian children who have lost their limbs.
The children, aged between 8 and 17, attend Matumaini School for the physically disabled in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Many have travelled across the country for several hundred miles to attend. They have a range of different needs – from surgery including bone-trimming operations, to the fitting of new prosthetic limbs, and after-care support such as physiotherapy. CCBRT assists in providing the required surgery and prosthetic limbs.
ELoH has agreed to work with Matumaini and CCBRT to sponsor all 17 children for the next year. $4,927 US Dollars will cover all costs for assessment, surgery, limb fitting and after-care for each child. We will receive regular updates on each child’s progress and at the end of the year, a full report will be produced for each child, assessing their prosthetic needs for the year ahead so ELoH can consider extending our support.
The yearly cost for each child ranges between $90 and $612 US Dollars, depending on the nature of support required. If you, a friend, a school or an organisation you know is interested in sponsoring one of these children and hearing about their progress, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
