On September 25, Alex Ainley and Elizabeth’s Legacy of Hope are hosting an entertaining piano and jazz concert in Radlett. The concert will be divided into two halves, with the first half devoted to classic piano and the second to jazz quartet classics. Alex is a very talented pianist who offers exquisite piano playing in combination with a lot of humour and interaction with the audience. Last year, he put on two hugely popular concerts and the audience was delighted, giving feedback such as “Brilliant – you are a Gershwin master and very funny”. This year’s concert is set to be even more spectacular and we hope you will be able to join us!

In the first half of the concert, Alex will play a number of classic piano pieces, including Chopin Prelude No. 16, a beautiful Elegy by Mendelssohn, and Ondine by Ravel – one of the greatest achievements in piano composition. Throughout the act, he will explain and unlock the pieces for the audience and there will be plenty of humour too.

After the interval, the audience will be back for a varied selection of jazz classics including Girl From Ipanema, I Got Rhythm, A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square, and Moonlight Serenade. Alex will be accompanied by three experienced and talented jazz musicians on double bass, drums and trumpet. The quartet will be playing lovely arrangements by all-time great jazz/swing musicians such as Quincy Jones, Billy May, Oscar Peterson and Art Tatum.  People will be itching to get up and dance and great fun is guaranteed!

Isabelle Trick, charity manager at ELoH, said:

“I can’t wait to hear Alex play again. His last concert for Elizabeth’s Legacy of Hope in Barnes in 2013 was a huge success. Not only did we raise an amazing amount of money for child amputees, it was also an incredible evening. Alex plays the piano masterfully and his humour is wonderful. Not many people have experienced a mash up of classical music and stand-up comedy before – they are missing out! It was hilarious, wonderful and it really works!”

Alex Ainley Autumn Concert 2012We asked Alex why he is so devoted to support Elizabeth’s Legacy of Hope, arranging a charity concert for the third time. He said:

Same as always!  I was deeply moved by the circumstances of the charity’s founding and its positive purpose – out of darkness to bring light.  When I ask myself what I can do to raise some money for this charity and help honour the noble commitment that Sarah and Victoria and their families and the trustees have made, the obvious answer, given my musical leanings, is to put on a concert.

All profit from this wonderful concert will go to Elizabeth’s Legacy of Hope. More information about the event can be found on the concert website. Here you can also view frequently asked questions and access the contact form.
